A picture is worth a thousand words...

The finished images of R&K Jepson Funeral Directors arrived today. Photographed by Tristan Poyser, the images look great, especially at dusk with the lights on!

Also, some slightly less professional photos of the finished Ashgate Croft Independent Living Unit taken from our visit last week. Obviously there's a bit to finish off on the external works which is now waiting for some nicer weather next spring, but the building is being well used and enjoyed by the school.

Grand cake cutting

Working drawings for the house at Fritchley are almost completed now. We've been refining the detail of the fireplace for the woodburning stove this week. One option below shows the fireplace is in white brickwork, with simple openings made with precast concrete elements. The fireplace sits on a cantilevered shelf with space below to store logs. Outside, a similar recess provides an external log store and the brickwork steps back as a shelf for the final glulam beam that supports the green roof above. Following a chat with the client, there's a little more work to do on the design, but hopefully its getting close!

This morning, Andy and Rob attended the Official Opening of the Rosehill School in Nottingham. Pupils, parents, Governors, and many of those involved in the building of the new school were invited. Andy Sloan gave an emotional speech about the school, thanking all involved. Evans Vettori were thanked for working closely with the school to understand the needs of both the staff and pupils. Following a performance by the school choir the official opening cake was cut, and guided tours were given around the school.
